How to Maintain your Shears: Lubricate your shear daily, by using 1 or 2 drops of oil to the pivot area of your shear (between the blades) and around the screw area. Then work your shear several times to flush out the pivot area - wipe off excessive oil and debris. To adjust your Shear, do the following: A. Hold the thumb blade in one hand with the point toward the ceiling. With the other hand lift the finger hole 1/2 way up and let it drop - the shear blade should close no more than 1/2 of the blade. B. To adjust the shear use a dime or screwdriver and turn the screw or adjusting knob right (clockwise) to tighten or left (counter-clockwise) to loosen - going very slowly. C. Retest your shear and refer to steps A & B. D. After you have adjusted your shear you may test cut by using 1 ply of unbleached white Kleenex® Facial Tissue. Hold the tissue up and cut (Don't force the blades together). If you have a clean cut - have a nice day and repeat steps A thru D in a few days. E. If the tissue folds or slides out, or your shear grabs the tissue, it will not cut properly. You can have your Shears Professionally Sharpened and Serviced.
